KuCoin referral code guide
How to sign up on KuCoin with code rMDYQZ5
- Open the KuCoin sign-up page through our link. The address includes rcode=rMDYQZ5, which carries the referral.
- Enter an email or phone number and choose a password.
- Scroll to the referral code field. The code is case-sensitive, so it must read rMDYQZ5 exactly: lowercase r, uppercase MDYQZ, then the digit 5.
- Submit, then enter the verification code KuCoin sends you.
- Set a trading password if KuCoin asks for one. It is separate from your login password, so store it somewhere safe.
- Add two-factor authentication and complete identity verification before moving larger amounts.
What the KuCoin referral code gives you
rMDYQZ5 is the most error-prone code on our site because it mixes upper and lower case. A single wrong letter, such as typing RMDYQZ5, can mean the account is created without the referral, and that usually cannot be fixed later. Entered correctly, the code gives up to 20% off eligible trading fees.
KuCoin's appeal is breadth: it calls itself the People's Exchange with more than 700 cryptocurrencies. Traders who rotate through many small-cap coins tend to make many small trades, which is exactly where a percentage fee discount adds up without being noticed. KuCoin sets how long the referral discount lasts, so check the current terms in your account after you sign up.
KuCoin trading fees explained
KuCoin charges 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker on spot. A $600 purchase of a smaller altcoin costs $0.60, or $0.48 with rMDYQZ5. That looks trivial, but a trader making 25 such purchases a month moves $15,000 and pays $15.00 in base fees, or $12.00 with the referral.
Futures carry a 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker rate. A $10,000 perpetual opened at market costs $6.00, or $4.80 discounted.
Futures volume adds up faster. Ten $10,000 perpetual entries a month at market cost $60.00 at base, or $48.00 with rMDYQZ5, which is $720.00 against $576.00 over a year. If half of those entries used limit orders at 0.02%, the base yearly total would fall to $480.00 ($360 taker plus $120 maker), and to $384.00 with the referral.
Who KuCoin is best for and not for
Best for
- Altcoin traders who want access to a very large catalogue of 700+ coins without opening many accounts.
- Spot traders making frequent mid-sized trades, where a percentage discount compounds over the month.
- Users comfortable checking every character of a case-sensitive code.
Not for
- Futures traders focused on taker fees: KuCoin's 0.06% is higher than Binance or OKX.
- Users who only want Bitcoin and Ethereum and will never touch the long tail of tokens.
- Anyone in a jurisdiction KuCoin does not accept. Check its list of restricted countries first.
KuCoin vs Gate.io and BitMart
Gate.io lists 0.09% spot fees against KuCoin's 0.1%, and 0.05% futures taker against KuCoin's 0.06%. Gate.io also offers more than 1,400 cryptocurrencies, roughly twice KuCoin's listed 700+. On listed fees and catalogue size, Gate.io comes out ahead.
BitMart is closer to KuCoin on price, with identical 0.1% spot and 0.02%/0.06% futures rates. It advertises over 1,000 trading pairs. With equal fees, the decision comes down to which specific tokens each exchange lists.
A practical approach is to use KuCoin for the coins it lists that Gate.io and BitMart do not, and to check all three before each new purchase. Gate.io's spot fee edge is a single basis point, which is small next to the cost of using an exchange that does not list your coin at all.
