- Check the invite code box for TSAVINGS. If you arrived from a bookmark or a different page and the box is empty, enter TSAVINGS exactly as written.
- Verify your contact details, then create a password that is unique to OKX.
- Set up an authenticator app before funding the account, and complete identity verification when prompted.
- Make one small trade first, then compare the fee on the fill against the rate in this guide to confirm the discount is active.
What the OKX referral code gives you
TSAVINGS gives new OKX accounts up to 20% off eligible trading fees. OKX is a global exchange with advanced trading features, and those features matter here: traders who use limit orders on OKX spot already pay a lower maker rate before any referral is applied.
The code has to be entered while the account is being created. If you trade options or margin as well as spot and perpetuals, read the OKX referral terms to see which of those products the discount covers.
OKX trading fees explained
OKX is one of the few exchanges on this site that separates spot maker and taker fees: 0.08% for makers, 0.1% for takers. Picture an $8,000 SOL purchase. As a limit order that rests on the book, the fee is $6.40, or $5.12 with TSAVINGS. As a market order, it is $8.00 base and $6.40 discounted. Combining a maker order with the referral cuts the cost from $8.00 to $5.12, a 36% reduction against the worst case.
Futures are priced at 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker. A $15,000 perpetual short opened with a market order costs $7.50 at base, $6.00 with the code. Opening the same position with a limit order would cost $3.00, or $2.40 discounted.
Who OKX is best for and not for
Best for
- Spot traders who mostly place limit orders and want the 0.08% maker rate rather than a flat 0.1%.
- Traders who rely on advanced order types and trading tools, which are a core part of what OKX offers.
- Users who split time between spot and perpetuals and want competitive pricing on both.
Not for
- Beginners who want the simplest possible interface: an exchange built around advanced features can feel crowded at first.
- Spot traders who only use market orders: their 0.1% rate is the same as Binance and Bybit, so OKX offers no edge there.
- Users in regions OKX does not serve. Look up the OKX list of supported countries before you create an account.
OKX vs Binance and Bybit
OKX and Binance list identical futures rates, 0.02% and 0.05%. The difference is on the spot maker side, where OKX's 0.08% beats Binance's 0.1%. On $50,000 of spot limit orders a month, that is $40 against $50 before referral discounts.
Compared with Bybit, OKX is cheaper on futures taker fees (0.05% against 0.055%) and on spot maker fees (0.08% against 0.1%). Bybit matches OKX only on spot taker and futures maker rates. On fees alone, OKX costs the same as or less than Bybit in all four listed fee categories.
